Omaha Central and Papillion-La Vista South resumed their first-round Metro Conference Baseball Tournament matchup Friday afternoon following a postponement caused by tornado warnings in the area the previous evening. The game, which had been halted in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday night with the Titans holding a slim 2-1 lead, resumed at 2 PM but ultimately ended with that same scoreline.
The Eagles battled hard on the road, getting a strong outing from junior Boe Di Lorenzo, who struck out three over five innings of work. Senior Blake Demman tossed a clean final inning in relief. Central’s lone run came in the top of the fifth, with senior Marcus Kane driving in a run as part of his multi-hit performance.
At the plate, Central outhit Papio South 6-2. Mark Ripp went 2-for-4, while Oscar Yuhas-Vining, Joe Dougherty, and Grant Hamill each added a hit. Despite opportunities, Central left six runners on base, unable to capitalize on late scoring chances.
With the loss, the Eagles move to the consolation bracket and will travel to Westview to take on the Wolverines tomorrow at 2 PM.
