Westside Track & Field Invitational Rescheduled for Monday, April 7

Westside Track & Field Invitational – Meet Information

The 2025 Westside Track & Field Invitational will be held on Saturday, April 5, at Westside High School’s Phelps Field. The facility is located on the southeast side of the Westside campus. Coaches and athletes will enter through the north gate. Due to construction, teams will use the school to travel between the throws area and the track, with signage posted to guide movement. Bus parking is available in the lot west of the school, accessible via Pacific Street.

Admission:

  • Adults: $6.00
  • Students (K–12): $4.00

Omaha Central will compete in this year’s invitational alongside Omaha Westside, Millard North, Millard West, Lincoln Southeast, Lincoln Northeast, and Lincoln Pius X.

Competition will begin at 1:00 PM with field events, and running events will start at 3:15 PM on a rolling schedule. Boys events will follow girls events.

Field Events:

  • Shot Put, Discus, Long Jump, Triple Jump: 4 attempts, no finals
  • Flights arranged with top performers in the last flight
  • Pole Vault and High Jump starting heights based on submitted entries
  • Continuing flights of five athletes used
  • Reasonable requests for reordering will be granted to accommodate event conflicts

Running Events:

  • Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) will be used
  • Preferred seeding for top eight in sprint events
  • 1600m and 3200m races will start in a Super Alley format
  • 800m may be split into two heats if entries exceed 16
  • 1600m and 3200m will be run in a single heat with a max of 32 runners

Scoring System:

  • Individual events: 1st–6th place (10–8–6–4–2–1)
  • Team champion plaques awarded to top boys and girls teams
  • Linoma Dual (Omaha vs. Lincoln schools):
    • Individual events: 5–3–1 points
    • Relays: 10–6–2 points
    • Top two competitors score per team per event

Awards:

  • Medals to top six individuals and relay teams
  • Championship plaques for team champions and Linoma Dual winners

Additional Guidelines:

  • Spikes must not exceed 1/4 inch
  • Only uniformed athletes allowed inside the track/infield area
  • No team camps inside the track; tents must be on the east side of the stadium
  • No food, gum, or sunflower seeds on the track or infield

Contact:

Championship plaques will be presented trackside after the final event (1600 meter relay), and medals will be available for pickup at the press box.
