Freshman CU Boulder Football Player Drelon Miller Gives Back to Hometown with NIL Earnings

Boulder, CO – [Dec. 23rd, 2024] — In a heartwarming display of gratitude and generosity, freshman wide receiver Drelon Miller of the University of Colorado Boulder football team used his NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) earnings to give back to the community that helped shape him. During a break between the football season and upcoming bowl game practices, Miller returned to his hometown of Silsbee, Texas, to make a lasting impact.

Miller personally hand-delivered $1,000 checks to four local organizations that played a pivotal role in his growth as a person and an athlete:

  • 409 Fit

  • All Faith School

  • Silsbee Little Dribblers Basketball

  • New Life Ministry Church

This act of generosity underscores the transformative potential of NIL opportunities for student-athletes, empowering them not only to invest in their futures but also to give back in meaningful ways. Miller’s actions exemplify the spirit of community and responsibility that CU Boulder encourages in its athletes.

Abbey Shea, Assistant Athletic Director of NIL at CU Boulder, commented, “Drelon’s story is a testament to how NIL can be used as a force for good. It’s incredible to see one of our student-athletes using these opportunities to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.”
