The tournament hosts one of the state’s biggest single-day toy drives, donating holiday presents to tens of thousands of families across seven parishes.
VIERA, Fla. — The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), the No. 1 multi-sport association in the country, is proud to announce the return of USSSA Winter Nationals: Toys for Tots. Now in its 14th year, the popular tournament is set for Dec. 7-8 across multiple venues in South Louisiana, including A.A. Comeaux Park (Abbeville), Scott Park, Tony Robichaux Sports Complex (Crowley), St. Julien Park (Broussard) and Youngsville Sports Complex, and is expected to draw up to 200 teams ages 7U-14U from across the region.
The toy drive on the first day of the tournament has become one of the largest single-day toy collections in Louisiana, providing holiday gifts for over 19,000 families across seven parishes in recent years. The 2023 toy drive brought in more than 6,000 toys and 100 bicycles for donation to Toys for Tots, and tournament organizers are looking to surpass those numbers this year.
“We have a record to beat!” said Steve Hassett, USSSA National Baseball Director. “We’d like to encourage not only players and coaches but parents and fans to consider bringing an unwrapped new toy to the event so we can make this holiday a little brighter for as many people as possible.”
Players and coaches are strongly encouraged to bring an unwrapped new toy when they arrive Saturday, Dec. 7. Teams are also welcome to collectively contribute larger gifts, like bicycles or electric riding toys. The team in each age group that donates the most toys will be awarded a free entry into the USSSA State Tournament, the 2025 Gulfport Global World Series and the 2025 DFW World Series.
Parents, fans and other spectators may bring a toy as well but will still be required to pay any gate fee.
All teams participating in the USSSA Winter Nationals: Toys for Tots will also be eligible to play in the Lafayette Spring Kickoff event.
